Grading Committee meets. |
What’s the Grading Committee? An international executive of Senior graded pipers and judges who meet to review grading applications and allocate a grading, based upon consensus of opinion. Chairman of the 2008 Grading Committee is Colin MacLellan, a Premier graded player and past President of the Competing Pipers’ Association. Colin has extensive knowledge of the international piping scene, and will also be drawing upon the expertise of other international and UK based players and judges who make up the Grading Committee. The CPA Secretary will be present in an administrative role only. No other non Premier graded pipers will be in attendance. |

Communication of Members’ grades. |
How do I find out my grade? Members’ grades will be listed in the secure, Members Only area of the website. To access this area, you will need to enter a password, which will be issued by email to all those members who have paid their subs. On the 16th (or before as advised by an email to all members), you will be able to log into the Members Only area and view your, and fellow pipers’, grades. |

Grading appeals open. |
What’s this about? Grading nearly 200 players is a huge task. While careful consideration will be given to all applications, we acknowledge that disparities may arise. Further information about the grading process is provided in the Grading FAQ’s section. This explains how your grade will have been arrived at, and may help you to understand why you have been allocated a certain grade. If you strongly disagree with the grading that has been allocated to you, you have the right of appeal. How do I appeal? You should clearly state your case in an email or letter to the CPA Secretary. Include your previous grades and those allocated for 2008. Please note that your grading will have been allocated based on consensus of opinion - any change can only be issued by the Grading Committee, not individual members. |

Grading Committee review of Appeals |
What happens here? The CPA Secretary will forward all appeals to the Grading Committee, which will review and determine revised gradings where appropriate. Again, please note that your grading will have been allocated based on consensus of opinion. At this stage the Grading Committee will make a final decision on your CPA grades for 2008. The updated list of grades will be published in the Members Only area of the website. |

Full publication of grades on CPA website |
Hang on! This seems awfully close to when the AG and NM applications are due. It gives those who appeal 10 days grace which we hope will allow that minority to prepare everything else, and get it on the relevant AG and NM websites or in the post. |

Eligibility Meeting for AG and NM |
What’s this? This is when representatives from AG and NM get together with Senior judges to decide who is going to be invited to play in their events this year. The CPA has traditionally been invited to attend the meeting and provide information on member’s grading and track records. Whilst we provide information, the final decision rests with the organisers. You will have applied with your CPA grading, and following this meeting, the AG and NM Competition Secretaries will advise whether or not you have been accepted to compete. |
