The CPA Explained

The Competing Pipers Association exists to further the status of pipers not just in Scotland, but all over the world.
The Association is involved on many fronts, such as in the running of professional competitions and recitals for its members, and in
monitoring and improving standards at highland games.

Grading

It also serves as the only grading organisation for pipers, with competitions such as The Northern Meeting and The Argyllshire
Gathering using CPA grades as their criteria for entry requirement.

Membership

Membership is open to all who play the Highland Bagpipe.
We look forward to welcoming new pipers from both Scotland and overseas - this is a community of pipers from all parts of the
globe.
Whether a seasoned professional competing for the Clasp at Inverness, or an adult beginner getting excited at playing in
your first grade five competition, you will be afforded a warm welcome in the CPA.

In working with partner organisations such as The Piobaireachd Society, various major competition promoters and The
Association of Piping Adjudicators, the CPA takes its position as a major influence in the affairs of piping administration.
