CPA - Competing Pipers Association
B & C Grade Competition 2010
The CPA is delighted to announce, in conjunction with the supporting competitions noted below, a separate B & C grade competition infrastructure that supports the extensive work that has been performed reviewing the CPA's grading structure during the 2009/10 annual grading review. Over 45% of the membership of the CPA is now graded C, with 30% at B, and this series of competitions sets out a platform on which pipers can compete against competitors of similar ability and track records at B and C grade levels. It is effectively an extension of the existing CPA B grade competition league.
These competitions are :
- Duncan Johnstone Memorial Piping Competition - separate B & C grade streams - Piobaireachd and Light Music.
- Blair Atholl - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd, open Light Music competition.
- Rosneath - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd, open Light Music competition.
- Inveraray - separate B & C grade streams - Piobaireachd and Light Music.
- Montrose - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd, open Light Music competition.
- Perth - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd, open Light Music competition.
- Cowal - separate B & C grade streams - Piobaireachd and Light Music.
- Blairgowrie - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd, open Light Music competition.
- London - separate B & C grade streams for Piobaireachd
There will be a league scoring system for each grade and points will be awarded for placings in the same manner as in 2009. An overall winner of each grade will be awarded at the end of the year.
For 2010, the CPA B & C grade competition league has been extended to include the Duncan Johnstone Memorial, Cowal and London competitions.
We are extremely grateful for the support of the Games' committees at these events for their agreement to establish these competitions. We are also extremely grateful to Glenfiddich who continue to sponsor the B and C grade events at Blair Atholl, Rosneath, Inveraray, Montrose, Perth and Blairgowrie.
Duncan Beattie has assumed the responsibility of B & C grade competition administrator on the CPA Executive. We are very hopeful that further competitions will be established to extend this competition level.
